On 14.08.2024, SRM Trichy College of Nursing observed Organ Donation Day with a focus on raising awareness through a short film competition with the theme of “Donors are Super Stars”. The event featured informative talks by healthcare professionals and highlighting the significance of organ donation. Students submitted creative films that illustrated personal stories and the broader impact of organ donation. The competition concluded with awards for Best Overall Film, Most Informative Film, and Best Emotional Impact. The day fostered engagement and commitment to organ donation, emphasizing its life-saving potential. The college plans to continue these awareness efforts in future initiatives.

August 12 is observed as International Youth Day, a day designed to celebrate the role of young men and women as essential partners in change. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness of challenges and problems faced by  the youth.The theme of International Youth Day 2024 is “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.” To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, the world needs to leverage the full potential of all generations. E-Poster competition was conducted based on the theme and best three posters were awarded with prizes.

SRM Trichy College of Nursing observed   World Lung Cancer Day -2024 on 01.08.2024 between 10.00 am -12.00 pm in Chest & TB Outpatient Department, TSRMMCH&RC.This year World Lung Cancer day focuses on the theme “ Close the care Gap: Everyone Deserves Access to Cancer Care” emphasising the need for equitable healthcare access for all individuals affected by cancer. Students were created awarness on Lung Cancer and preventive measures with Group Health Education. All are participated actively and doubts cleared.

India is gearing up to celebrate its Independence Day August 15, 2024 marking a significant milestone in its history.  We celebrated 78^thIndependence Day to commemorate the country’s independence from British colonial rule. The chief guest of the programme was Mr.M.Nathan, Genreral Manager, MRF Limited, Perambalur. Dr.N. Balasubramanian, Deputy Director, SRM Trichy Campus, felicitated the gathering and  the flag was hoisted by the chief guest. After the flag hoisting the flag song was sung by the nursing students. Our students have taken active part in performing flash mob songs. The programme was end with national anthem followed by sweet distribution.

Basic Life Support or BLS generally refers to a level of medical care which can be provided by trained health personnel, including emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and by qualified bystanders for victims of life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can be given full medical care at a hospital. SRM Trichy College of Nursing in collaboration with IMPETUS Health care organised three days Workshop on Basic Life Support from 18/07/2024 to 20/07/2024. Around 233 delegates were actively participated and updated their knowledge on Pediatric/ Adult BLS, with appropriate hands on skills. This workshop is designed to prepare registered nurses to provide CPR and use an AED in a safe, timely, and effective manner. The skills learned in this workshop will help to recognize cardiac arrest, get emergency care on the way quickly and help the person until more advanced care arrives to take over. Skill based examination was conducted at end of session, everyone got more than 90% of score and they were awarded with TNNMC credit hours and certificates.

World Population Day is observed annually on July 11th to raise awareness about global population issues, including the challenges posed by population growth and strategies to address them. It aims to highlight the importance of population issues in the context of sustainable development and to encourage actions and policies that can lead to a better balance between population and available resources. On this day, SRM Trichy college of nursing organized campaigns to educate people about the impact of overpopulation on the environment, health, and socio-economic development. B.Sc( N) IV year students performed skit and delivered health talk  emphasized on family planning, reproductive health services, gender equality, poverty alleviation, and education. It encourages people to consider how individual choices and collective actions can contribute to a balanced and prosperous world for present and future generations.

Prof.G.Vairavel, Ph.D. Dean Academics and Educational Initiatives, SRM Institutions, Trichy was the resource person. He explained the newer pedagogical methods to be introduced in the class room and how to CO / PO Mapping. He has given many activities which were very new and created interest in involving.

Trichy College of Nursing organized an guest lecture on IMNCI. Our invited Mrs. Rebecca, Professor, KMC College of nursing. Describe the International Mother and Child Initiative (IMNCI) and its goal of lowering childhood mortality and morbidity by combining preventative, promotional, and therapeutic measures in a comprehensive manner. Draw attention to the difficulties in implementing IMNCI, including the lack of resources, the need for health worker training, and community involvement. Talk about creative fixes and modifications that have worked well to get beyond these obstacles. Everyone taking part is enthused and involved.

The enthusiasm and commitment of participants were evident as they marched together, carrying banners, placards, and wearing symbolic attire to raise awareness. Students actively participated, underscoring the involvement of the younger generation in tackling this critical issue.

Mrs. Kalaipriya, MA, PGDCG, psychiatric counsellor, emphasized the collective responsibility of the community in combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking.  The importance of prevention and rehabilitation programs was a key point. The session was educational and interactive.
