Youth Red Cross Day Celebration 2026

The Youth Red Cross Committee of SRM Trichy College of Nursing organized Youth Red Cross Day on 16th February 2026 from 4.00 PM to 5.00 PM at the Multipurpose Hall, in collaboration with IQAC.

The programme aimed to promote humanitarian values, voluntary service, and social responsibility among nursing students. The event began with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by a welcome address and a presentation on the principles of the Youth Red Cross — humanity, impartiality, neutrality, voluntary service, unity, and universality.

The Youth Red Cross Activities Report highlighted initiatives undertaken over the past two years, including blood donation camps, health awareness programmes, community outreach, environmental activities, and first aid training.

The Principal and Vice Principal motivated students to actively engage in service and uphold the noble ideals of the Red Cross. A thought-provoking mime performance by students emphasized social responsibility and humanitarian commitment.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem. The celebration successfully inspired students to strengthen their dedication to service and community welfare.

Youth Red Cross activities contribute to SDGs 3, 4, 10, 11, and 17.

World Cancer Day Guest Lecture on Cancer Awareness, Prevention, and Early Detection

SRM Trichy College of Nursing organized a Guest Lecture in commemoration of World Cancer Day to raise awareness about cancer, its prevention, and the importance of early detection.

Aligned with the global theme “United by Unique” (2025–2027), the session emphasized that every cancer journey is distinct—shaped by individual circumstances, genetics, and support systems—while highlighting the collective responsibility in promoting awareness and timely intervention.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Dulasiraman Ponnas, Consultant Medical Oncologist, Trichy SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A interaction, fostering meaningful discussions among the participants.

Emergency Care Nursing Procedure

Trichy College of Nursing Conducted a STATE-LEVEL WORKSHOP ON EMERGENCY CARE NURSING PROCEDURE With 200 delegates, 9 resource person, 8credit hours provided by Tamil Nadu Nurses & Midwives Council .The workshop session was enhance the knowledge and practical skills of nursing students in managing emergency situations. Emergency nursing plays a vital role in saving lives, and this workshop aimed to prepare students for more effective patient care during critical conditions. This was followed by lectures and Hands on skill practical session on various emergency procedures such as

  1. Cardiac monitoring
  2. Neuro Assessment
  3. Wound Care Management
  4. Endotracheal intubation and Suctioning
  5. Emergency drug calculation and administration

Hands-on training sessions were conducted using mannequins and emergency equipment. Students actively participated in demonstrations and practice sessions. The Workshop was highly informative and beneficial for nursing students. It successfully improved their theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for emergency patient management.And we shown grateful to our management for completed this workshop successfully.

    Farewell and Thanksgiving Ceremony for Final Year Students

    SRM Trichy College of Nursing organized a Farewell and Thanksgiving Ceremony for the outgoing IV Year B.Sc. Nursing students on 24 January 2026 at the SRM Auditorium. The event celebrated shared memories, achievements, and milestones, featuring cultural performances, words of encouragement from the Principal Dr. Suja Suresh, and the presentation of mementoes as tokens of blessings. The final-year students also donated a paediatric procedure manikin to the college, marking the occasion with gratitude, pride, and new beginnings.

    Fresher’s Day Celebration – Inicio Fiesta 2K25

    Fresher’s Day, titled Inicio Fiesta 2K25, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy at SRM Trichy College of Nursing. The programme was organized by the SNA unit with the objective of making the new entrants feel welcomed, confident, and motivated as they begin their professional journey in nursing.

    The event commenced with an invocation prayer, followed by a warm welcome address by the organizing committee. Prof. Dr. Sameerudin Khan, in his address, encouraged the newcomers to uphold the values of professionalism, compassion, and dedication that define the nursing profession.

    The celebration featured a variety of cultural programmes including dance performances, singing, and fun games presented by senior students, creating a lively atmosphere and fostering interaction between seniors and juniors. Several freshers also actively participated, confidently showcasing their talents and enthusiasm.

    Dr. Suja Suresh, SNA President, officially announced the fresher’s batch name as Tanzanite. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the faculty members, organizers, participants, and everyone who contributed to the success of the event.

    The celebration was a memorable occasion that strengthened unity, friendship, and a sense of belonging among the nursing students.

    Skit on National Cancer Awareness Day

    The YRC Unit of SRM Trichy College of Nursing organized a skit on National Cancer Awareness Day on 11th November 2025, from 11 AM to 12 PM. The performance was designed to educate the community about cancer prevention and the importance of early detection.

    Through their impactful presentation, the students highlighted the need for timely screening, healthy lifestyle practices, and the significance of awareness, aligning with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. The skit delivered its message in a simple, clear, and engaging manner and received strong appreciation from the audience.

    This initiative not only enhanced understanding but also encouraged positive health behaviour within the community.

    Symposium on National Filaria Day 2025

    SRM Trichy College of Nursing organized a Symposium on National Filaria Day 2025 to create awareness about Lymphatic Filariasis (Elephantiasis) and its prevention. The programme was conducted on November 11, 2025, in observance of National Filaria Day under the theme: “End Filariasis – Ensure Healthy Communities.”

    A total of 85 students attended the event. The symposium featured informative presentations on the causes, symptoms, transmission, and prevention of filariasis, along with discussions on the importance of Mass Drug Administration (MDA) and community participation in disease control.

    Students actively participated in the interactive sessions, demonstrating strong interest in public health awareness. The programme enhanced knowledge, promoted preventive practices, and encouraged youth involvement toward achieving a Filaria-Free India by 2030, marking the event as a meaningful observance of National Filaria Day 2025.

    World Stroke Day 2025 – Poster Competition

    Inaugural Programme for the Academic Year 2025–2026

    The Inaugural Programme for the Academic Year 2025–2026 was held on November 5, 2025, at 10:30 AM in the SRM Auditorium, Trichy Campus.

    The event commenced with a warm Welcome Address by Dr. Suja Suresh, Principal, followed by the lighting of the Kuthu Vilakku by the dignitaries, symbolizing the beginning of a new academic journey.

    Professor Dr. Md. Sameeruddin Khan, SRM IST, delivered the Presidential Address, highlighting the institution’s commitment to excellence in education. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Jayanthasri Balakrishnan, captivated the audience with an inspiring and motivational speech, emphasizing the noble values of nursing and the importance of nurturing compassionate healthcare professionals.

    The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Professor Mrs. Devi. K, Vice Principal, followed by the National Anthem, marking the end of a memorable and motivating inauguration ceremony.

    National Day for Disaster Reduction – Pamphlet Presentation

    The Youth Red Cross (YRC) Unit of SRM Trichy College of Nursing organized a pamphlet presentation to observe the National Day for Disaster Reduction. The initiative aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of disaster preparedness and mitigation among students.

    Students actively participated by creating informative and visually compelling pamphlets, demonstrating their creativity, knowledge, and commitment to safety and sustainability. The presentations were evaluated based on content, design, and relevance, and winners were recognized for their exceptional work.

    The event successfully fostered student engagement and reinforced the importance of collective responsibility in reducing disaster risks.
