The Journey of Nursing Students

Tamil Nadu State Branch 31st SNA Zonal Biennial Conference was organized held at SRM Trichy College of Nursing on July 12, 2025, under the theme “Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow: The Journey of Nursing Students.” Approximately 500 students from 20 nursing colleges participated in various cultural events in Trichy, Perambulur, and Ariyalur Districts . We Started the program at 8am with an inaugural ceremony felicitate Dr. Sudha R., the Advisor for the State Student Nurses Association of TNAI-TN State Branch, as our esteemed resource person. And we had the honour of welcoming our chief guest, Prof. Dr. Md. Sameeruddin Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Trichy, along with Dr. K. N. Gopakumaran Karth, Dean of TSRMMCH & RC, who are both highly regarded individuals. The Principal of SRMTCON, Dr. Suja Suresh, initiated the event with a welcome address. SRMTCON organized a variety of activities, including Face Painting, Hair Styling, Mahandi, Vegetable Carving, Comedy Time, Solo Singing, a Poster Competition on pertinent nursing topics, Mono Acting, Extempore Speech, an Essay Competition, On-the-Spot Painting, Pencil Sketching, Floor Decoration, and Group Dance Competitions for students, which took place in various halls around SRMTCON. Students from SRMTCON and other nursing colleges actively participated in these competitions and received recognition at the Zonal level. The program concluded with a valedictory ceremony where we presented prizes to the winners of the events. We wrapped up the event with a Vote of Thanks by prof.Mrs.Devi vice principal of SRMTCON and ended with the National Anthem. We express our sincere gratitude to our honourable Chairman and Co-Chairman, as well as the management, for their sponsorship of the event and their support in successfully hosting the program.

Community Outreach Program

SRMTCON Organized School health program was conducted by students of Final Year as a part of COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM in Government Primary school, Manikapuram, Manachanallur Tk, on 24/06/2025.

Formal consent was obtained from the school authorities priorily .There are 62 children studying from first to fifth standards. Programs for the day were planned and delivered with the concepts of Ill effects of Junk food and proper disposal of waste through skit, a song with the theme of Personal hygiene continued by a dance about hand washing. There was good reception from the audience as the programs were very captivating and engaging. There was a small interaction with the kids at the end of each session and the response from the school kids was satisfactory. Students were rewarded accordingly. Before winding up the event fun games were organized for the school kids and the winners were awarded with gifts. We concluded the program with vote of thanks and national anthem.

Yoga day

Trichy College of Nursing, in accordance with International day of yoga -2025 conducted yoga demonstration and posters presentation on 20.06.2025 between 02.00 Pm -05.00 Pm in the SRM Trichy College of Nursing.

The event began with a brief introduction about yoga day. The guest of honour was from Isha yoga center at Coimbatore. Warm up exercises was demonstrated by the trained personnel from Isha yoga and all the students practiced & performed yoga asanas, importance of these were explained simultaneously. Posted competition was organised in the multipurpose hall, students participated enthusiastically.

 Zenith Carnival 2025

Greetings from SRM TRICHY COLLEGE OF NURSING Annual cultural program (SNA Cultural Program) Zenith Carnival 2025 was held gorgeously in SRM Trichy College of Nursing on 16.05.2025 at SRM Auditorium. Dr. N.Balasubramanian, Deputy Director, Trichy SRM Campus felicitated the gathering. Zenith Carnival was a week-long program.There were Rangoli, Show stepdown, Ramp walk, Group dance, Solo dance,Group song, Photography, Connection, Find the tune, Mehandi and Hair-do. There were hard competitions among the participants. All the events were soexciting that the participants enjoyed them very much. SNA President Dr.Suja Suresh, Principal, SRM Trichy College of Nursing, highly appreciated the SNA office Bearers, the student Coordinators for successful conduction of the programme. At the end Winners were awarded with prizes and certificates. Over all trophy won by Ruby (Red) house and Runner up position secured by Emerald (Green) house. Everybody enjoyed the cultural function and the program ended with National Anthem.

Essay Competition

SRM Trichy College of Nursing, conducted an Essay Competition in accordance with World Hemophilia Day -2025 – “Access for all: Women and Girls bleed too”, on 17.04.2025 between 2-3 pm at SRM Trichy College of Nursing Library. The participants actively participated and expressed their creativity, and their insights were truly impressive. Ms. Bharani got first prize, Ms. Pavithra got second prize, Ms. Eniya got third prize

WORLD EARTH DAY

Youth Red Cross (YRC) Unit of SRM Trichy college of Nursing conducted a debate competition on theme “PLANET VS PLASTICS “an account of world earth day on   23-04-2024, SRMTCON AUDITORIUM at 3 PM – 4 PM for the students of B.SC (N) and DGNM students. The aim of organizing debate competition was to hone the public speaking skills of the students and teach them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions. The session was the kaleidoscope of opinions, thoughts and perspective that enhanced the knowledge and understanding about the planet and plastics among students.

TUBERCULOSIS DAY Guest lecture

Greetings from SRM TRICHY COLLEGE OF NURSING SRMTCON Organized world TUBERCULOSIS DAY Guest lecture ON 27 , MARCH 2025 under the theme of “We Can End TB: Commit, Invest”. Resource person: Dr.s.savithri MBBS,DTCD DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF MEDICAL SERVICES(TB) TRICHY Our hourable chief Guest Dr.s.Savithiri mam spoke about prevention of Tuberculosis ,RNTCP,Multidrug resistance,CB NAAT TB test.The session was very informative and we updated New Medical test ,treatment On Tuberculosis .167 students and 20 faculties were participated in this session and engaged in an interaction with the resource person.

Guest lecture on cardiac rehabilitation

Greetings from SRM TRICHY COLLEGE OF NURSING On March 28, 2025, SRMTCON Organized a guest lecture on cardiac rehabilitation by Dr. Senthil Kumar Nallusamy, MD, DNB (Med), DND (cardio), FACC, Chief Interventional Cardiologist, Rana Hospital Trichy, is our esteemed resource person. He described about a medically supervised program called cardiac rehabilitation is intended to help patients who have had heart-related disorders including heart attacks, heart surgery, or other heart ailments restore their cardiovascular health. Exercise, diet, and counselling were generally discussed in the session as a way to aid in recovery and lower the chance of developing heart issues in the future. 30 faculty members and 210 students were attended the session. The entire Sessions was more informative about the cardiovascular system. Resource person Dr.SenthilKumar Nallusamy, MD,DNB(Med),DND(cardio),FACC, Chief interventional cardiologist Rana Hospital, Trichy.

Key Highlights:

Taught about General Cardiac disorders, Diet and Exercises for cardiac patients Stages of Myocardial Infarction How to handle the patients during in emergency situation after the cardiac arrest -Loading Medication doses, then explained about that (Diagnostic procedure – Angiogram and Invasive procedure- percutaneous coronary intervention.)

Exhibition on Audio-Visual Aids

SRM Trichy College of Nursing proudly hosted an engaging Exhibition on Audio-Visual Aids on 17th April 2025 at 10:00 AM. The event was successfully organized by the Education Technology Department in collaboration with B.Sc. Nursing V Semester students. The exhibition showcased a variety of innovative teaching tools, emphasizing the importance of AV aids in nursing education and practical learning. B.Sc. Nursing V Semester Students displayed a wide range of audio, visual, and audio-visual aids such as posters, charts, flashcards, models, puppets, PowerPoint presentations, and educational videos. Each exhibit was presented with detailed explanations, showcasing their relevance in patient education and nursing practice. Faculty members and students attended and appreciated the efforts and innovation shown. All B.Sc. Nursing and DGNM students enthusiastically visited the AV Aids Exhibition, gaining knowledge about innovative teaching tools that enhance learning and patient education. A big thank you to everyone who participated and visited – your support made it a huge success.

Visit to the G-Corner Slaughter House and Gandhi Market

On 20th March 2025, students from the B.Sc Nursing V Semester, along with DGNM students and 2 faculty members from SRM Trichy College of Nursing, visited the G-Corner Slaughter House and Gandhi Market as part of the curriculum requirement.

The group first visited the G-Corner Slaughter House, where the students were provided with a comprehensive explanation of the entire process involved in meat production. Following the slaughterhouse visit, the group proceeded to Gandhi Market, where freshly processed all products were displayed and sold.

The purpose of the visit was to provide students with firsthand experience and insights into the meat processing and packaging industry, as well as the procedures involved in cutting, packing, and transporting meat products.

The observational visit to the G-Corner Slaughter House and Gandhi Market was highly educational and informative. The students gained valuable knowledge about the meat processing industry, hygiene standards, and food safety practices.
