World Breast Cancer Awareness Program

As part of the Community Outreach Program, the IV Year B.Sc (Nursing) students of SRM Trichy College of Nursing organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Program at Samayapuram on 15th October 2025.

The session began with a warm welcome by the students, followed by an informative talk highlighting key facts and statistics about breast cancer. The students demonstrated Breast Self-Examination (BSE) techniques and shared valuable insights on prevention, treatment options, and various government schemes supporting early detection and care.

Inspirational survivor stories were also shared, creating a meaningful impact among the participants. The program concluded with the National Anthem, marking the end of an inspiring and educational session.

A total of 30 members actively participated, making this initiative a successful step toward promoting awareness, early detection, and community health empowerment.

Global Handwashing Day 2025 – “Be a Handwashing Hero”

The IV-year B.Sc (N) students organized a Community Outreach Program in celebration of Global Handwashing Day 2025 with the theme “Be a Handwashing Hero” at the Anganwadi in S. Kannanur on 15.10.2025.

The session began with a warm welcome by the students, followed by an informative talk on the importance of hand hygiene in preventing infections and promoting community health. Students demonstrated the proper steps of handwashing as outlined by health authorities, emphasizing the theme of becoming a “Handwashing Hero.”

The Anganwadi children participated enthusiastically, actively engaging in the re-demonstration of the handwashing techniques at the end of the session. A total of 30 participants took part in the program.

The initiative helped reinforce healthy hygiene practices among children and highlighted the students’ commitment to community health awareness.

Debate on “Traditional Classroom Vs Online Learning”

Youth Red Cross (YRC) Unit of SRM Trichy college of Nursing organized a debate on the topic “Traditional Classroom Vs Online Learning” to commemorate World Literacy Day On 12th September 2025 at 12-1 pm. Our B.Sc. Nursing and DGNM students actively participated in the debate.The discussion was lively and insightful, highlighting the advantages and challenges of both traditional classroom learning and online learning. Debate supports SDG 4 by promoting quality education and literacy, encourages SDG 5 through equal student participation, and highlights SDG 9 by emphasizing the role of technology and innovation in modern learning. The event successfully encouraged student engagement and critical thinking on contemporary educational methods.

Symposium on National Alzheimer’s Day

Symposium and role play about “National Alzheimer’s Day ” 22-09-2025,SRMTCON MULTIPURPOSE HALL at 12 PM – 1 PM for the students of B.SC (N) 6th semester students. In the theme of “ASK ABOUT DEMEMTIA,ASK ABOUT ALZHEIMERS” aimed at Alzheimer s disease is the most common form of confusion,difficulty in communication and changes in behaviour misplacing items.and early diagnosis is crucial for managing symptoms and we have a talk about research findings major treatment and clinical manifestation. Community nurse play a vital role in dementia patients and final the foster a compassionate-environment for those affected by dementia and Alzheimer s disease.

First Aid in the Digital World

“First Aid in the Digital World”, at MPH, SRM Trichy College of Nursing. The students demonstrated exceptional skills and teamwork during the bandaging mock and drill. All are participated actively.

Workshop On First Aid and Disaster Management

The SRM Trichy College of Nursing organized a workshop on First Aid and Disaster Management on 22.08.2025 & 23.08.2025 with the objective of enhancing knowledge and preparedness among nursing students. Mr. Shiek Nazzar Dist. Hon Treasurer & Dist Hon Secretary, South Asian Disaster team member, IRSC and his team members were the guest experts for the workshop. First day a detailed lecture covered the types of disasters—natural and man-made—and the phases of disaster management including mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. The resource persons provided an overview of the principles of first aid, immediate care in case of burns, fractures, bleeding, choking, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Demonstrations were given on the correct techniques for CPR and wound dressing. Students actively participated in simulated drills, such as safe evacuation, triage methods, and emergency bandaging techniques. A mock scenario of an earthquake was enacted where students demonstrated rescue operations, first aid provision, and coordination with emergency services. Overall, the workshop proved to be highly informative and skill-oriented, strengthening the preparedness of nursing students to act as responsible healthcare professionals during emergencies and disasters.

The Youth Red Cross Organised A Garden-Making Activity

The Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit of SRM Trichy College of Nursing organised a garden-making activity on 07.08.2025. The YRC unit of SRM Trichy College of Nursing took this initiative to foster environmental awareness, enhance the aesthetic appeal of the surroundings, and motivate students to engage in sustainable practices. YRC volunteers actively participated in the event. The activity was part of the YRC’s ongoing efforts to foster a sense of social responsibility and care for nature among its volunteers. This initiative aimed to beautify the campus and create a peaceful, green environment. Provide hands-on experience in gardening and teamwork.

Anti-Ragging Day

SRM Trichy College of Nursing observed Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August 2025, followed by a week-long orientation programme from 12th to 18th August 2025, to spread awareness about the serious consequences of ragging and to promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus environment.This initiative was in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The programme commenced with the significance of Anti-Ragging Day and reiterated the institution’s zero-tolerance policy.An informative session by the Anti-Ragging Committee explained UGC guidelines and helpline numbers. As part of the observance of Anti-Ragging Day took a proactive initiative to spread awareness about ragging and its consequences by playing educational and sensitization videos.

Guest lecture on “Patent Strategies and Tactics to overcome pitfalls”

SRM Trichy College of Nursing organized a Guest lecture on “Patent Strategies and Tactics to overcome pitfalls” on 14.08.2025 between 02.30 am – 03.30 pm. Dr. Mary Mangaiyarkarasi. M.S, Patent Officer, SRM Trichy Campus was explained in detail patenting strategies, the importance of intellectual property rights (IPR), and common pitfalls innovators face during the patenting process.The session aimed to empower students and researchers with the knowledge to safeguard their innovations and navigate the complexities of patent law.The lecture was highly informative and well-received by participants. Attendees gained valuable knowledge on Structuring a successful patenting journey, Avoiding common mistakes during the filing process, Aligning innovation with IPR protection strategies.

Annual Sports Meet (Sportopia 2025)

SRM Trichy college of Nursing, SNA unit organized the Annual Sports Meet (Sportopia 2025) in the month of June 2025. The students were divided in to four Houses namely Emerald (Green), Sapphire (Royal Blue), Amethyst (Purple) and Ruby (Red). The Sports day was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr.Suja Suresh Ph.D (N)., and led by Mr.Manickam, HOD of Physical Education. After the inauguration, the students of the four different houses competed against each other in the athletic events like 100 metres race, 200 metres race, 400 metres relay, Javelin, Shot put, discus throw and indoor games such as Carom, Chess and Table tennis on 26.06.2025. Remaining all the team events like Throw Ball, Volley Ball, Hand ball, basketball, Kabaddi, Football, Tennikoit and Kho-Kho was conducted on 27.06.2025. Students were supposed to develop a passion of athletics and a spirit of sportsmanship as a result of this event. Students participated actively and enjoyed well. Points were given to the four houses depending on the winners of each event. Finally Overall trophy was won by RUBY TEAM . At the end, Principal thanked everyone for their presence and support, and congratulated the students for their exceptional performances.
